It might already be too early to make this claim, but I am going to do it.
The following are the best games of the year – at least so far. And we only have a few months to do, so I think I am safe
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor
It’s kinda hard to believe that they could make a game out of Tolkein’s classic Lord of the Rings, but they did.And not only that but it is a killer game too.
Shadow of Morder is an action game, somewhat like Assassin’s Creed or Batman Arkham. The main difference in this case is the open world style of things.
Where as in Assassin’s Creed it kinda feels open, it is not.
The graphics and game play are stunning and if you like these kinds of action then I recommend you head out to the store and buy in now!
Quite a new game only coming onto the scene in September, Destiny has already make it’s mark. And on my brain as well.
Unlike Mordor it is more of a futuristic game of the strategy and shooting type game than that.
It is first person, which I love, and the more you explore and unlock, the further you go, the better it gets.
Take a look at the video below and see what you think for yourself.
Another first person shooter game, but more for those who are on crack. This game is super fast, and never gets boring.
Again it has a futuristic setting where you are a pilot, and have acrobatic abilities like nothing you could obtain in reality :>
Another cool side part of the game is the pet robot you have to help you out of difficult situations.
It’s fast, fun and addictive.
Last but certainly not least is a slower game, at least for some. Banished.
This is a city builder style game, that is really a matter of patience. So if action is your thing, then don’t even bother with this game.
But to give you an idea, for those that love the long-game and a bit of strategy.
To quote the guys from PC Games
Lumber, iron, stone, food – these resources can turn a tiny, starving colony of medieval exiles into a burgeoning city, but they aren’t the most important resources in Banished. That honour goes to people. They are born, get jobs, educations, start families and eventually die. Banished is a juggling act, demanding that players attempt to balance growth with stability, because starvation and death are only ever one disaster or unexpected population boom away.
If you have played the likes of SimCIty the older version, or Civilization, then this kind of game is worth a look.
The Games So Far
So those are my picks so far. A little bit of strategy, a whole lot of action and a mix of time periods.
